Timing Belt Questions 1995 1.3 L Automatic

I got the crank center bolt loose and the #1 piston at TDC. Now I can't get the 8mm headed bolts loose to remove the pulleys from the end of the crank, even with my motorcycle impact driver. My questions are:

(1) I take it the bolts go into the timing belt sprocket, so can I take the bolts out of the timing belt cover and pull the pulleys and sprocket out together with or without the timing belt? Will this make it difficult to put back together properly?

(2) Is it OK to turn the engine backwards a couple of inches once in a while?

(3) Is it necessary, as the factory manual says, to loosen the valve lash adjusters in order to adjust the timing belt properly?

(4) I am replacing the cam seal. Should I break the cam sprocket bolt loose before I do all of these other things? This means I have to get the pulley loose from the crank sprocket first. I have a 10 mm rod to put through the camshaft to lock it while I break the bolt loose.

with a 3/8" drive 8mm socket you should be able to get the small bolts out. unless someone used locktite they aren't that hard and come out the normal direction. it will be very dificult to remove pulley and gear without taking those out and yes you need to loosen the cam bolt before taking belt off. try using the 3/8 ratchet and a cheater bar and giving it a sharp jerk, they should break loose. can also use the socket and extension and give end of extension a smack with a hammer.

I got them out using a 5/16 socket because its slightly smaller and one of them was buggered up.
