92 Regal Heater Blower Fan
The fan in my car is acting up and I wanted to get some opinions before really tearing it apart.
It is a little noisy but also doesn't want to go as fast as it should. If I turn the heat off or the fan off and the motor stops it will not start again without a slight tap, so long as it doesn't stop it will start again but again, not as fast as it should. I can see the motor, silver assembly under the glove box and was wondering if the motor is bad. It's acting like it since it will not start without a tap. How hard is it to replace? I know it is tight in there but I seem to be able to stand on my head and see what looks like only two screws holding it up. Thoughts, ideas? |

Yeah, I talked to my mechanic and he said he would replace it for $150 which isn't bad. Maybe I can talk him down a bit too tomorrow morning.

Re: 92 Regal Heater Blower Fan
Yeah I know, the problem is getting it out with all the stuff in the way.
I actually got the three bolts holding it in out today and then started lowering it but couldn't get it out. Gets dark here so early I lost light standing on my head on the floor. May try again tomorrow instead of bringing it in. Autozone has them for $40 so it would be worth another shot. I just worry about all the wires around there. |

There is also a air tube that comes out. With the screws out you just to have wiggle the motor around until it comes out. The cheaper fans are kind of universal and you may have to change the hole you use. I lost the third screw that goes in behind.lol Before you buy another one I would put it in a vise. Have a fully charged battery ready and attach booster cables. Make sure you attach the negative tight to the casing. Now gently touch the positive to one of the connectors on the fan. (keep your face away at this point). It will either spark (a lot) Start spinning Humming sound or nothing. If it sparks try the other connector/s. If it spins it is probably a good motor. If it hums hit it with hammer it will likely spin.(in this case it is not worth the time.) If it does nothing it is shot. Cheers Stripe |

Re: 92 Regal Heater Blower Fan
Yeah, it's shot because it does nothing unless hit while in the car.
I don't see an air hose though on this one, no where. I will look more. |
