5.3 06 Aluminum or cast Iron

Does my 2006 GMC Sierra 5.3 ltr Vortec Automatic trans, Crew cab. have an Anuminum or cast Iron engine block. I need to know this because I have to purchase a block heater cord for it and Canadian Tire says they have ti know this for the block heater side of the cord.
It gets mighty cold up north her and when the factory cord kicks in at -18 it's just too cold with the wind chill. I just want to buy one that doesn't have the thermometer on it. I though about cutting the outside end off if they want an arm and a leg for a straight through cord, but there is not lots os wire to play with.

Thanks
Mike

Need to know what engine you have. From what I can tell, there are 3 engines that you could have.

LM7 (Vin T), L59 (Flex Fuel Vin Z) and the L33 (Vin B a.k.a. HO).

The L33 is Aluminum, the other 2 are cast iron.

I'm guessing you are referring to my Vin #: 2GTEK13T261333373. If not please let me know where to look.

Thanks

Um, how about touching the block with a magnet, no? Anyway it is a T engine, cast iron.
