89 1500 silverado

My sons 89 silverado has had many problems since his fanbelt blew off his new factory engine, starter went south and replaced, knocksensor replaced, o2 sensor replaced (but now corner of connector melted against the manifold)........engine runs rough, dies, won't idle when hot or cold......I presume there is a short, would this be the o2 connector? Is there some where else to look for a short........

Welcome to AF, does it start right back up? Get the o2 and connector fixed, but this does not sound like a " short". 350 TBI engine?

It starts after some cranking, but runs so rough it dies.....especially when put into reverse..........

Yes 350 TBI.........all engine accessories are off his old engine save for the new parts I just listed......

Make sure both injectors are spraying.
