Defrost short 95 f-150

With great appreciation for previous answers I look to the people on this forum for other advice. My 95 F-150 must have another short in it (regarding the heater selection panel). I've all ready replaced the control unit which selects the mode of choice defrost/vent/or floor. And when the defrost is choose the truck hesitates almost like it stutters engine wise(almost like it wants to die really), but when the floor option is chosen theirs nothing wrong (no hesitation or stuttering). So i figure the defrost must have something else connected to it other then the panel control, once this is found out maybe i'll be able to trace the wires and find the short, any ideals?

Re: Defrost short 95 f-150

I've recently had to replace the alternator and recharge the battery, The problem had went away, I'm guessing that the defrost selection draws more power from the battery causing a slight hesitation when driving. And if i ever needed the heat, its now, a whopping 5 degrees out today. Were expecting a heatwave of 31 degrees later. Good luck yukon!

Defrost on most cars engages the A/c Compressor so if the compressor is weak or anything it will make the engine stumble.

Thats kinda funny that you mention A/C because theres something sweating during the summer months constantly even when its off, I was thinkin that the selector controls was failing leaving it on. Thats another reason I changed it. What else does a person look for when they think the compressor is failing.

Well, you could have a A/c clutch failing or sticking abnormally, without having an actual compressor failure. I would have someone watch the compressor while you switch it on, see if it is sticking longer than normal. If there's no noise and the compressor isn't locking up, run it normally and keep an eye on it.
