power steering problem in the rain

i just bought a 02 impala and recently when i drove it in the rain through a puddle of water the security light beeps and the power steering goes out for a few seconds it beeps again and returns to normal .................... can any one give me me some feed back on how to fix this problem thanks

My '08 Impala was doing the same thing (except with no security light). I replaced the serpentine belt with a GM belt (had some off-brand Japanese belt) and the problem has not occured since. Also check the belt tensioner pulley to insure the belt stays tight.
