1974 Bobby Allison AMC Matador

Put the final touches on this last night...
A great build in the end. Everything fell together.

Looks superb, I don't know anything about this car. It looks like you have added some metal to the rear bumper corners, did the car have these to improve the aerodynamics? If so, how did you add these details? It looks great!

This is a very nice job on a somewhat difficult to build kit. My own WIP has required a lot of sanding, dry fitting and stuff from the spares box and it is only partway along.

Those bumper end caps were functional and on the actual car as seen below. They come in the kit but need a good deal of fiddling to fit.

My favorite era as far as Nascar machinery is concerned.

Thanks hiergehts, you have confirmed what I thought, minor aerodynamic details obviously count, especially at NASCAR sppeds!

PS this AMC Matador looks like the car that flew in the James Bond film 'Man with the Golden Gun' I think the film was about 1974, do you know if it was the same car?

Re: 1974 Bobby Allison AMC Matador

Hi Viccario,

Yes, the car that Scaramanga drove/flew in "Man with the Golden Gun" is derived from the same basic Matador coupe as Bobby Allison's race car. The actual production version was built between 1974-78.
