Re: 93 camry driving me nuts
Lets review a few items.
Did you replace the rotor? Did you see the rotor moving when you cranked the engine? Note, this would tell you that the timingbelt is moving... but the timing could be off. How did you check the coil? Quote:

Re: 93 camry driving me nuts
Did you remove the coil from the distributor and actually inspect it for cracks? The coil can develope hairline cracks and short itself to ground on any metal inside the distributor, causing a no spark condition. This is a common problem on the first 3 generations of Camrys as they rack up lot's of miles and the coil ages.

Re: 93 camry driving me nuts
Contrary to the manual's specifications, a coil that checks out barely within the primary and secondary resistance specs may actually be bad. As mentioned, cracks or ripples in the body or the epoxy filler mean an internally shorted coil.
The OEM coils give a good lifespan of 150k miles or so....not so for aftermarket replacements which eke out only 30k or so miles, with a very small or no warranty to boot (even a one year warranty is useless unless you drive 30k miles in a year...not likely). Coincidentally, my third AM coil crapped out last week...only 23k miles old. Fed up, I ordered an OEM one. Cost was double but I expect about 6 times the lifespan, and fewer roadside meetings with the tow truck. Also ordered the oil seal kit for the distributor to kill two birds with one stone. [EDIT] Here is the thread link to my distributor oil seal replacement: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=937638 Hope this helps!
