87 pa died and wont start

This is my dads car, 87 pa 3.8 with the magnavox coil set up. It died off and on but always restarted easily for about 2 weeks, then 4 days ago it died in the parking garage where he works, and wont restart. The parking garage is very tight, and has a low roof, so AAA wont send a tow truck in, and the turns to get out are so hairpin that I'm nervous about using a tow strap to get it out with no power steering, but on to the problems. One fin on the harmonic balancer was bent, and doesn't pass though the ckp, I don't know how this happened, but thought hey, easy fix, and loaded up the air compressor(thank goodness there are power outlets) and changed the balancer, and ckp. Had to jump the car off(Dad killed the battery trying to start it after it died) and no start. This was disheartening since I was pretty sure that bent fin was the problem, nonetheless, I set out further diagnosing. There are no codes because of the dead battery, and there is also no spark or injector pulse, however, the fuel pump runs, and there is fuel pressure, although I don't know how much. Can a bad ICM affect injector pulse? Is there a test for a magnavox ICM? I hate to throw parts at the car, but is there a way to narrow it down between the ICM and PCM, without a scan tool, or a test for the ckp(because new don't mean good) Thanks

Re: 87 pa died and wont start

Check the wiring from the cps to the icm if ok remove the icm, most parts houses can test it, make sure there is 12v to it on the pink wire first. Sometimes, although, it will pass but still be defective.
