2000 grand prix 3.8L wont start

Hey i was replacing plugs and wires along with the lower radiator hose. I removed the coil pack and ICM to better access the hose and I accidently bumped the bottom of the ICM against the body and the positive termanal causing a spark (imagine that) now after i got the car back together i am getting fuel and spark but the car wont start. I will sometimes start for just a second or two and die. It acts like the firing order is way way off but i now i put all the plugs and wires in the right order...I have even triple checked this. My question is what did i fry when i shorted the bottom of the ICM against the battery? Thank you

Re: 2000 grand prix 3.8L wont start

so i just realized when the key is on the very top coil starts making a sizzling noise and gets warm to the touch, i changed it with a different one and it does the same thing. also i got it to start for about a minute but it acted like the timing was off it was popping and carrying on. i checked and yes that coil is still sparking at the plug. does this aim more toward the ICM?

That doesn't sound good. Sounds almost to me like the driver circuit for the top coil pack is stuck on causing the coil pack to overheat. I am not sure if replacing the ICM would fix the issue or if it could be a pcm problem. Do you have a doner ICM from a friends 3800 that you could swap in there just as a test?
