I have a 2000 dodge neon that i just rebuilt the transmission in, the problem i now have is the car will not release from 3rd gear automatically. To get third to release you must either put in neautral or 2nd gear. I have checked the Torque converter lock up and this is not the issue, I know it is almost certainly a valve sticking, This problem was always there before i rebuilt and the few things i did not change was the valve body, govenor, and hard parts; all new parts are torque converter, clutches, seals, bands, thrust washers and direct clutch springs and rollers. I have drove this car the past few days and made a few adjustments to cables, etc. The trans all seems to be fine except that third gear must be released manually. Could this be a shuttle valve, bypass valve or which valve would be the most likely problem?
