92 gp pass rear caliper

my passagner side rear brake caliper wont work. i bought a new caliper , bleed it right. and there is no change in the brake pedal postion to stop the car. the bolts were hard to get in the holes but i did not strip[ them out though. i checked that.

anyone know what it might be.

Re: 92 gp pass rear caliper

Different carline here, but check out the concept.

Same issue on 1991 S-10 front caliper. Caliper is dragging. Replaced caliper. Bled. No change. Changed flex hose. Working pefectly. Fast forward about 3 years. Same exact thing duplicated itself. Also working correctly now after brake hose replacement.

I think the crimped fittings can build up corrosion same as the calipers. Now...if I'm going to change a caliper I'm also going to change a hose.....YMMV

Re: 92 gp pass rear caliper

i replaced both back brake flex hoses.

no change
i did have to reconnect the back brakes with compression fittings cause i cut the lines so the calipers would stop leaking ( the old ones )

could it be a compression fitting?

Re: 92 gp pass rear caliper

A compression fitting is poor practice IMHO since it can blow-out. But I do understand sometimes there is more desperation than others, but braking systems are high-confidence.

I think I would look into the master cylinder next.

Re: 92 gp pass rear caliper

A compression fitting is a huge NO and I hate seeing that.Compression fittings are not made for the braking system and can blow apart which was mentioned

Re: 92 gp pass rear caliper

The correct way is to use a union to join both section of the brake line. I know that it is a big no no but I used a compression fitting. I have had no problems so far, but I do check it regularity.

Re: 92 gp pass rear caliper

Just my .02 but if it is original 1992 part and suspect I'd simply change it without any further testing.
