Re: 06 f-150 4x4
Are you trying to say "My truck will not go into 4wd, and also the corresponding light does not come on?"

Re: 06 f-150 4x4
Never had a 4wd, however it sounds like you should check for power at the switch w/key on, If it normally came on w/ key on. If there is no power there, and all fuses are intact, then I wood suspect a blown fuseable link under the hood. Also, an error code scan should cough up an error code re: transmission system function errors which will be #'s prefixed P07xx thru P09xx and P17xx thru P19xx.

Re: 06 f-150 4x4
It would probaly be one of the heavy gauge wires coming off the always hot starter solenoid post connection. At the switch, w/ power on, you should show power to ground, on one wire, and continuity to ground, on the other one. this should tell you which direction to pursue. Unless the ground path goes thru a selinoid, in which case that would act as an open switch and would not show continuity. Your wiring diagram would tell you what your dealing with & if it is in fact a 12v circuit. In which case you could could wire the switch temporarily off the battery to see if the circuit energizes. Anything else malfunctioning, like the speedo? Something that might include circuit safty interupts?

Re: 06 f-150 4x4
Replace the solenoid that is on the firewall behind the battery...that is a good place to start, it controls the vacuum that engages/disengages the hubs. There is an updated version, be sure the vacuum hoses are installed fully, I used dilectric grease in the electrical connection. This thing is fussy and cannot handle any moisture. Good luck.
