1980 monte carlo engine mounts ?
i have a 1980 monte carlo it had a 3.8 turbo v6 then before i got it was swapped a 2.8 v6 and i just swapped that out and was wondering would there be any way of just dropping in a 350 or would i have to do some moving around with frame mounts or just simple 350 mounts engine mounts?

Re: 1980 monte carlo engine mounts ?
Do you mean a 3.8 V6?
I think its unlikely someone swapped in a 2.8 V6 because the transmission bolt pattern is completely different from the original 3.8. You need to positively identify the engine and transmission in this beast. The Chevy 350 will not bolt up to a transmission used with a 2.8 or 3.8 Buick-based V6. However, if you have a Chevy 229 cid V6, or if you have a THM 200 transmission, then a 350 will bolt up. Otherwise, a 350 is easy to install. You will need engine mounts, exhaust, radiator hoses etc for a Monte Carlo with a 305 V8, since it is extrenally the same as a Chevy 350. If you need a new transmission, a THM 350 (3spd) or a THM700 (4spd OD) would be a good choice. You might need to relocate the transmission mount to accomodate the transmission, and possibly shorten the driveshaft. |

Quote:
The mounts will bolt up to existing holes in your frame and will also bolt up to a Chevy 350 engine. |
