92 lesabre - how do you replace low beam bulbs ?

tried replacing bulbs from the back, but there is absolutely no access for low beams (only high beams) from back of lamps.
on driver side an air intake tube blocks LB connector and on passenger side it is a battery.

so, do you remove the headlight assembly to change bulbs ? how do you do that on this specific model ? i can see 4 bolts (2 on top and 2 on side) on bracket connecting headlamp with frame and fender (very hard access to those nuts) ... is this it? or rather 2 circular plastic things on each lamp... how do you turn them ? they are stuck completely...

plz, owners of this type of headlights, help me change bulbs

You must remove the whole headlight assembly which is held in place by two black plastic handle screws. Each is about 1 1/4 inch in diameter. If they won't move use pliers. Once the piece is free from the car it will be easy to change the bulbs.

ah i see! thanks spinne1.

i tried moving those large black plastic handle screws with a towel and fingers, no go. at least now i know this is the way, i almost removed air intake, bu there was a problematic bolt too, so abandoned the idea.

next time will use pliers on those screws.

If the threads on those screw downs are corroded, you might want to use some PB Blaster or some other penetrating substance that helps eat corrosion and break bolts loose easier. Even a penetrating oil might work if you can get to the thread part.

Re: 92 lesabre - how do you replace low beam bulbs ?

jesus ... spend half a day on replacing those bulbs ... passenger side went quickly and easy ... except for the fact that lamp was half full of water, so needed to open it up, drain, clean, put it back and use silicone waterproof sealant ... hope it holds otherwise Silver Star bulb goes bye bye...

the driver side was a nightmare ... [read only if you are blood thirsty]

one screw went well after WD-40. the other screw ... was still frozen like hell, treated it 3 times with WD-40 and finally it broke free ... only the thread was stripped ... god ... it took 2 hours, rubber mallet, home repair hammer, large screwdriver and lots of patience to loosen the damn screw. i wasn't able to break it (tried, wanted to extract it and replace), however i got it loose to the point so i could remove headlamp and twist it enough to slide my hand from behind and change the low beam bulb.

so i got new headlights! finally hehe. only problem is that because of headlapms mounting design, now one lamp aims at sky almost while the other one reminds me of someone looking for change on the ground. who invented this healights ??? it must have been a complete moron.
just want to add that holding a headlamp by only 2 screws on top is silly, because every time you remove it and re-install it it will sit at bottom at different angle, so adjusting lights is a must (it has currently nthing to do with one loose mounting screw i got).
