Gear slipping on start for '07 5.3L?

I occasionally have an issue on start-up that I can only describe as the vehicle slamming into gear. It happens a second after it starts. The vehicle will even lurch forward a bit. The transfer case failed recently and was replaced, but this problem existed before it failed and exists after. Any ideas?
