97 blazer takes off too slow

I have a 97 S10 Blazer with 4.3W. It's very simple, I replaced both shift electrical solenoids A, B, though, shift solenoid A was the one sending a service engine error, but I changed both since I was already down there. Once I took off the transmission oil pan, it got too dark and so I had to leave the truck without the oil pan for a whole week. Now that I got time, I replaced both solenoids, cleared the error code and then I took the truck for a test drive. The servic engine light does not turn on anymore, which is good,However, I notice that the truck hesitates to take off at the beginning, it goes very slow even if I accerlerate on the gas pedal. After it reaches about 15mph or so, it starts to speed up and when it reaches 25mph or so, it can accelerats quickly and runs smooth after that. It's only slow when you take off from a complete stop. Now, the transmission has never, ever, given me any problems, and I didn't mess with that either. I heard that the catalytic converter might need some transmission oil, since the truck was up, on ramps, for a whole week, draining oil, but how true is that? What else should I check? The wire, spark plugs, rotor, fuel filter, pump..are all in good condition, and the fuel pressure is also good.

Re: 97 blazer takes off too slow

If the torque converter (NOT catalytic converter) needed tranny fluid, it would get it as soon as you started the truck.

Have you double-checked your fluid level after you've warmed up the truck and driven it around a little bit? The level is checked warm, after a warm-up drive (not just idling), on a level surface in park (running).

Oh, and what was the condition of the tranny fluid you drained out of the pan?

Re: 97 blazer takes off too slow

UP TO DATE: After I waited for about 30 minutes, I tried to go for another test drive. Reverse works fine, hard, fast, responds very good. Anyway, as soon as I took off from the stop sign, I pressed a little harder that usual, and felt like something hard kicked in, and the truck speed up quickly after that. I guess the converter didn't have enough oil, becuase i doubt that its going bad since I never, ever, had any problems and i didn't mess with this part during this operation. HOWEVER, IT USED TO WORK FIND AFTER 30 MPH, BUT NOW, THERE IS A HESITATION AT 30 MPH. I HAVE TO EITHER SPEED UP TO 32MPH OR SO OR SIMPLE STAY BELOW, NO 2ND GEAR. THE HESITATION IS VERY LITTLE, SMALL, AND YOU CAN MISSED IT IF YOU DON'T PAY MUCH ATTENTION TO THE SOUND OF THE MOTOR, AND IF YOU SIMPLY PUT THE PEDAL TO THE METAL RIGHT FROM THE BEGENNING, YOU DONT FEEL THE HESITIATION. I GUESS I HAVE TO BREAK-IN THE SHIFT SOLENOIDS A,B WHICH I REPLACED OR WHAT?

WHEN I TOOK OF THE TRANMISSION OIL PAN, THE OIL DIDN'T SHOW ANY METAL, OR ANY SIGNS OF GRINDING. I REPLACE THE FILTER, AND BOTH SOLENOIDS A, B.

I'LL LET YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENDS TOMARROW WHEN I TAKE IT FOR ANOTHER TEST DRIVE. THINGS SEEM TO GET BETTER AFTER EACH RUN.
WHATS YOU OPINION? ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Re: 97 blazer takes off too slow

I seem to be having a similar issue with my wife's 99 Blazer with the take off. So, what was the final verdict with your vehicle? Is is fixed, or is it doing better? I really wanted to know, that way I could check ours out as well and see if it may have the same results.....at least I am crossing my fingers that it will!

Re: 97 blazer takes off too slow

Oh, thank you all for writing and responding. My truck works great, you can hardly feel changing gears. The problem got fixed, i guess that the oil needed to get through the solenoids A,B, thoroughly or it took a few hours for the catalyst to get oil. Either way, my truck works great, but then again, i never had transmission problems with it, simply changed to solenoids and filter since i was already there. thanx alot.
