Question 2000 GP GT ignition change out problems

Hi I have recently posted on here about ignition problems. We decided to replace the switch along with the cylinder ( as we was having issues with it as well). We got the parts from Morad parts...... But it did not go as well as hope. Now I need suggestions.

We replaced the switch along with the cylinder ( battery was unhook at the time). Once we put the key in the ignition we was not able to turn the key to the off position. But if we removed the park solenoid we was able to. So leaving that off we re hooked the battery up we got a hum/alarm that sounded like it was coming from the drivers side floor board. Battery was unhooked- Park solenoid was reinstalled, Battery hooked back up-- same thing.
So battery was unhooked again and the old switch harness was put back on still the same thing-- we even put the old cylinder back on. Still received the hum/alarm sound. By that time the battery was being drained back down.

Could the sound have been from a battery not being charged enough? Did something else go wrong? Any suggestions as what to do? Someone said that there are 3 modules down there but we didn't mess with them.

We was not able to relearn the key due to the alarm/hum going off.

Even though its humming, will the car start and run? Or will it start and die? Is the security light on the dash illuminated?

BTW, did you check all your fuses just in case?....

Re: 2000 GP GT ignition change out problems

Hi Tblake,

sorry it took me so long to get back to you-- its been crazy around here and we had not tried anything. We figured out that the humm was from the headlights.

Car started right up but now my security light is flashing. I didn't have to relearn the key. We started to go thru the process but the car started on the first try. Is that normal? Do I have to do something else?

You will want to go through the re-learn process to stop the security light from flashing.
