The Proper Order For Replacing Rear Brake Shoe Hardware
I am replacing the rear drum brake shoes on my 1995 1.3L hatchback. I've never done anything but my 1972 f100 pickup. The factory and Haynes manuals have different orders. I was wondering if anyone knows from experience what the best order to replace the parts is. This was very important on my truck and I learned the hard way.
Thanks. F100. |

Re: The Proper Order For Replacing Rear Brake Shoe Hardware
Here's what I found out works well: Attach parking brake lever to secondary shoe with the e-clip; attach secondary shoe to backing plate with hold down spring; attach one end of upper spring to secondary shoe, and one end to primary shoe and pull apart until the shoes fit into the wheel cylinders, while positioning the cam strut between the shoes; attach primary shoe with hold down spring; attach lower spring; attach anti-rattle spring.
I hope I haven't forgotten anything. The procedure in the factory and Haynes manuals didn't work for me. f100. |
