93 Mark VIII hard shifting 1 - 2.
The transmission shifts really hard from 1st to second but is smooth the rest of the gears. Any ideas?

You more than likely have a broken lower spring in the 1-2 shift accumulator. This is a common problem with the 93 4R70W trans. The cause is a poor design of the piston, to small for the bore.
The fix is cheap and easy. Drop the pan, remove a snap ring, springs and piston will drop out. install new parts and your good to go. Call Max @ 5 Star Ford. Tell him you need the updated 1-2 shift accumulator and he will take care of you. 1-800-866-1520 ext 236.
