Book time on a 78 Aspen water pump change?
I'm doing a water pump change on a 78 Aspen with a 318 2bbl and also with AC and was curious if anyone has access to literature telling them book time for such a repair.
Its taking me longer than I anticipated due to everything being original on the car (it has a little over 10k miles) so getting all the old gasket material off was a pain in the ass. Also didn't realize I was going to have to remove so much. I was just curious as to what book time showed so I gave my neighbor a fair labor rate. I don't want to ask too much, but I also don't want to short change myself so if I just ask for booktime times a flat cheap hourly rate it will be fair for both parties.

Re: Book time on a 78 Aspen water pump change?
It took me about 2.5 hours on a 1974 Dodge Dart with the 318 engine, had to do it twice at 45K and 100k miles. However, I did not have AC compressor in the way and the gasket material came off easily for me.

Yeah, I found someone with Alldata and they said it was a 2 hour book time job. After the first time it went a lot easier the second time around. Yeah don't ask. All that matters is its fixed now.
