Throttle Body Gasket to Intake manifold leaking Radiator fluid

1996 Pontiac Bonneville SE,

Leaks under Pressure, Just by looking at it, it seems the gasket is warped a little and is pushing out the throttle body, Uhmm..... Any ideals?

If you need more info i will try to tell, I just need a basis on what needs replacing and If i have more then one problem. :<

Thanks

It may be time for a new UIM, but you still need to remove the T/B for inspection, it could just be the gasket/seal.

Re: Throttle Body Gasket to Intake manifold leaking Radiator fluid

I recently encountered the same problem, coolant was leaking internally, these cars have a plastic upper intake plenum that melts the egr port, they sell a kit that cost about 70 bucks shipped to fix this, the kits comes with a new updated egr port for the lower intake, a sleeve for the upper plenum, & cold weld. If this is your problem, it's not to hard of a job to tackle.

It would be much better to order a Dorman replacement # 615180 which comes with an upgraded UIM and all necessary gaskets. Check: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php

If you do have the early symptoms of UIM failure, eventually the inside of the intake & engine could look like the one in the pic below. When it goes this far, major internal engine damage could be the result.

Re: Throttle Body Gasket to Intake manifold leaking Radiator fluid

That pic. above is what happened to me, I noticed when my engine hydro-locked from all the coolant filling my cylinders. It's worth the time & effort to do the job before it gets that bad. The site HotZ28 showed you seems like a very easy replacement, I myself enjoyed the challange using the kit I found. But had I known their was a replacment for about the same price, I might have just done that. Make your choice & tell us how everything goes. We need to keep these Bonnys on the road, they don't make them anymore...

Re: Throttle Body Gasket to Intake manifold leaking Radiator fluid

is that green coolant i see? you should be using the orange coolant from GM. A mechanic i know has tested the differant coolants the green coolant has a differant ph than the orange. green and orange start at opposite ends of the scale (ph) just treat the orange like we use to treat the green (replace every two years not 100,000 miles) and your gaskets will not fail so easy. acording to him if you leave old coolant in to long it is a slow death to all plastic engine parts.

Re: Throttle Body Gasket to Intake manifold leaking Radiator fluid

Ah i see, That pic is not of my car:P I used the Dex coolant although..... This car did sit wrecked for about a year,

When i got it, I believe there was green coolant in it though, I've fixed it and had it runin for about 3 months before transmission went out.< Which the pan was damaged in the crash, Anyways..... The coolant that leaked out of the T/B / UIM was green For Sure:<

Re: Throttle Body Gasket to Intake manifold leaking Radiator fluid

Thanks for puting my pics up. ,

Tonedog that looks clean as hell , I am going to do the same to the upper and lower Intake, by the way... What should i use to clean it?

I took the UIM off today and found that the Gasket where radiator fluid goes through is ripped and messed up lol, and It was all grimy and black, i will post pics, in a day or so.

I got another random question lol... Can the Oil pan be removed without removing anything else? I need to replace the pan and gasket seeming i think both leak lol,

Thanks
