83 type wont start witout jump
my 83 type wont start unless i jump it . Ive changed the alternator , installed a red top optima 1000 cranking amp battery . and she still needs jumping to get going. any ideas where i can start. My wife's badgering me to get rid of my dads ride. even after I jump it and drive it for a while ,if I shut it off it needs a jump.

Several possibilities here; corroded battery cables, cable loose on starter, or simply the starter pulling excessive amps and needs replacement.

thanks for the quick reply .i m going to remove the starter and test it maybe replace it . but its only 2 yrs old and the car hasnt been driven .

2-yrs without regular use could cause excessive amp draw! Was it a rebuilt unit?
