42 mpg on new rebuild?
92 1.0-Stop and go, mostly mountains around here. Can I do better?

Re: 42 mpg on new rebuild?
I know with new cars usually there is a break in period that the mpg isn't so good. It increases as the motor breaks in.

Re: 42 mpg on new rebuild?
Sounds to me that you're doing pretty good. About the same as what I get. Mine is Automatic with air.

Re: 42 mpg on new rebuild?
That car will need at least 1000 miles for it to break in.

Re: 42 mpg on new rebuild?
About 800 on it now Johnny. Before she went south I was getting 48mpg.
2 things that I changed were, the egr was plugged from the exh. all the way to back of the tb. That is clean now. And after replacing the distributor in the exact same spot as when removed, the timing was on 2btdc. Assuming the old t belt had some stretch, it may have been at 0 or some degree after?? |

Re: 42 mpg on new rebuild?
Usually if the car needed a rebuild, the cat converter could be plugged up from all the carbon buildup. Just a thought.
