Help with an 85 King Cab Nissan 4x4 pick up

ok I have the engine on TDC and the valves are closed on the #1 Cyl. The piston is at the top of the Cyl, The cam gear dowl pin is in hole # 2 like the book say's but the silver link is not on the number 2 punch mark on the gear it is about directly across from it like it would b 180 degrees out of time but the timing mark on the pully is on 0 witch is TDC and the #1 valves are closed and if I only move the timing chain to the # 2 punch mark and not chang anything else because everything else is right by the book it wouldn't change anything would it?
