Radiator/Coolant Issue

Hello,

New to the forum...I have a 1992 Cutlass Supreme, 3.1 engine. Recently the heater hose broke (corroded). I purchased a new hose and installed without any problems. Followed mdirections from car manual to fill/replace coolant....heater works for a while then it gets cold...engine overheats....wating for a while for engine to cool, repeat process but still same results. What am I doing wrong? Is the a specific way to replace the coolant?

Regards,

Ric.

Re: Radiator/Coolant Issue

Welcome to AF. Did you bleed the cooling system as required?

Re: Radiator/Coolant Issue

There are 2 bleeder screws one near the thermostat housing and one on the coolant pipe I believe ,you get the engine warmed up open these and wait till coolant flows in a nice stream to bleed the air, you could do a google or site search for the procedure also.
