420a and srt-4 swap
forgive me if i sound crazy but i have heard that you can put the srt-4 motor in the 420a eclipses because the mounts are basically the same and would feet well. i heard it's in the works already. what do you all think?

the SRT4 motor is backwards compared to the 420A in the Eclipse.

Some of the older neons (95 to 99 I believe) had the 420a so yes a 95-99 Neon 420a could go into a 95-99 RS/GS or vice versa. The SRT4 engine is not the 420a so it could not be directly swapped.

 Build on hold until I get a good paying job, either in school or once I get out. At that time a full tear down and complete rebuild should be in order. The Purple People Eater will ride again... January 2011 can't come soon enough.

if it gets done that would be a nice sleeper though wouldn't it?. and yeah it's backward but i heard something about altering the firewall to make way for the srt's turbo.

It would be nearly as hard as doing the 4g63 swap. You would still need a different transmission and ecu, among other things. Why not just buy a damn srt-4.

the swap can be done the motor mounts don't line right up, but as for it being backwards my 420a in my 95 eclipse sits the same way as the srt4 in the neon. It would be backwards in a 97-99 when the engine was flipped around.

There is a 2.4 swap for the 420a that bolts right in with the exception of a few pieces. This would be a far better swap than the srt4 motor.

ummm ya why would would u want to do a srt-4 swap in to a dsm? that makes no since. just build the gst motor and there you go. forget the srt-4
