ABS/Brake light/trans/speedo/
I have a 2001 z71 with 125k miles on it. Today while I was leaving work the truck didnt shift right and when it finally did shift into 2nd it jerked and then the ABS and brake light came on, the speedometer died, and I couldnt get out of 2nd gear. I had the codes pulled at a local shop and he told me the VSS might be bad and that my TPS WAS bad. Well I went and bought both of these sensors and replaced them the same day but nothing changed. Does the pcm need reset before the sensors will work properly or is there somthing else causing these problems all together? The truck isnt even drivable right now I just have 1st and 2nd gear. Any help would be appreciated

It shouldn't, the abs light will probably go off, and the service light will stay on for whole bunch of key cycles, but it should drive ok. Just in case though, pull the battery cable for a minute or two and try it again. The tranny is going to limp mode, it is harsh shifting because the line pressure is upped as a fail safe. I don't know why it hangs in second, that might be the same stuff. Miles, service kept up? fluid smell ok, details.

Re: ABS/Brake light/trans/speedo/
Does it shift from first to second on its own or is it just manual? You might want to check some fuses

with the rear wheel speed unknown to the pcm the shift points will no happen,,the abs lt will be on because it has no speed input, the speedometer is getting the signal from the transmission sensor so that also won't work... whatever you paid you got robbed.. not to long ago a member had a similar issue it was rodents chewed up the wires around the transfercase/ transmission area.. let us know what you found ,,,,,,,,,,,,good luck |
