1998 malibu 3.1 trany leak
I have a high mileage malibu that is leaking trany fluid.
This is the model without the dipstick.(hard to get the correct level) There no obvious leaks. My question is, does anyone know what the most likely spot is to have leaks? After I guess fill it , it will run about 2 weeks before starting to slip again. Cheers Stripe |

I found it at the lower line to the radiator.

Re: 1998 malibu 3.1 trany leak
The procedure to check the fluid level is to remove a plug near the passenger side of the transmission using a 11mm or 7/16 socket near the end of the axle.Do this while running in park,it will be full when fluid starts running out.

That is the first I heard of that. I thought it was out the filler cap? And to not turn off the engine until the cap was back on. Witch is in a hot tinny spot that is sure to burn my hand. I will look though and thanks for the info. Cheers Stripe |

This is true how to check the fluid level in this transmission and read the service manual.
