Exclamation 01 GP GT 3800 V6 Oil in Radiator

I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT with 130k miles. I have had little problems with my 3800 V6 non-supercharged until recently with some cooling problems. The car has been overheating often and recently my transmission has started slipping and i noticed a large amount of what seems to be oil coming out of my radiator when i fill it. There has also been some oily/watery leakage on the ground underneath the car after running hot. I've been told it is possibly a problem with the radiator and i need to replace it. any advice?

that doesnt sound like a bad radiator. it sounds more like a bad head gasket

I advise you not to drive it unless you want to damage your transmission.

Sounds to me like the trans cooler inside the radiator went bad.

Check the trans fluid. If its any other color than pink, then it is probably contaminated with coolant.

Re: 01 GP GT 3800 V6 Oil in Radiator

I picked up a new radiator today as well as everything I need to change the filter and fluid in the tranny. Guess we will know soon if it is the radiator or not. If it is not, how labor intensive is it to replace the head gaskets on the 3800?

Its pretty much how you expect it can be. Its not too bad as I have seen a lot worse, but I have only done it on a couple series 1 3800's. The deepest I've been into a series 2 is with the Lower intake off.
