Hi. I have a problem with my clutch slipping some time but not all the time. My past experience with clutches has been when they start slipping, they just got worse, but that doesn't seem to be the case with this one. I snatched second gear yesterday and it barked the tires. That doesn't sound like something a slipping clutch would do. Anyone else experienced this problem? Any ideas? I am thinking the slave cylinder may be sticking and not releasing all the pressure to the pressure plate, but I don't know. The truck has the original clutch and 235K miles on it. Maybe I should just change it and be done with it. Thanx for your help.

I have a 97 Nissan XE with a similar problem. The clutch only slips when under the most strain, typically at freeway speeds in the higher rpms. If I push the clutch back in and ease off of it slowly increasing the RPM's it engages fine. It will also slip when I am not shifting when I hit the gas to get up a steep overpass. If I let off the gas and ease back down on it or downshift to a lower gear, it usually engages fine. Do I need a new clutch or are there other problems I should rule out before spending almost as much as the truck is worth for a clutch replacement? Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: 95 Pickup intermitten clutch slipping
there is very little to work with when the clutch is going out
you will need one soon the main thing to try to get the last life out of the thing is to bleed the clutch master cylinder.
