97 camaro choking everyone!

got a 97 3.8 camaro that runs so rich, that it chokes anyone behind, in, or even close by due to exhaust fumes!! Also runs rough, and gets CRAPPY milage. The diagnostic plug doesn't work, so can't go according to the codes. Does this sound like an o2 sensor or dirty egr valve? How many 02 sensors on this car? Thanks for any help!

Yeah, I,ve looked to c if I could find why aldl won't work. I guess I'll have to pay someone to find problem. Oh well!! That's better than spending a wad, and still not solve the prob! I'll let all know what it was!

Re: 97 camaro choking everyone!

Well, I got a code finally! said I needed a crank pos sensor. After install, it still runs rich, and rough. No more codes, but still runs like garbage. Any ideas? firing order is correct, etc.

Re: 97 camaro choking everyone!

A faulty coolant temp sensor for the ecm can cause this problem. it's a cheap part and worth a shot. it won't trigger a code either.

Re: 97 camaro choking everyone!

It turned out to be the coil for number 6 plug. $23.00 fix. Well, $50.00 with the cps too. Runs great now, and light went out.
