Re: ls 2001 won't start after battery changed

Welcome to the forum!

Can you provide more detail? Does the starter crank the engine over? Did you change the battery out because it wouldn't start? Did you make sure the battery polarity is correct? Did you make sure to remove any protective covers from the terminals of the new battery? Did you check the fuses? Do you get any power, such as dome lights? What happens when you turn the key to the Run position?

The more relevant detail you can provide, the better the suggestions we can provide.

Rod, yes the starter cranks, battery would not charge, polarity is correct covers are gone fuses are fine dome lights windows radios etc works, car just wont start.

Starter engages does not fire. I think it might be the anti theft system we did everything in the owners manual any other Ideas?

Re: ls 2001 won't start after battery changed

I am also having the same problem, it is a 2001 ls v6. It all turns over and all power windows, locks and ect. work. But he engine will not fire. When i spray fluid into the intake it fires off fluid then dies because not getting any gas. It turns over and no fire. This happened when i changed batteries. I swtched the fuel shut relay on the passenger side kick panel, but nothing. So i am also looking for help. Thanks.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge that you can use to check the fuel rail pressure? There have been quite a few posts recently related to fuel pump jet pumps failing....

The PATS system disables the starter, so it doesn't sound like this is your problem.

Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key to run?
What does the PATS light do while you are trying to start the engine?
Have you checked all the fuses (in the trunk, in the passenger kick panel, and under the hood) to see if any are blown?

Hi - I had a duplicate problem in February.

Have you tried removing - testing - reseating the 30A block fuses in the engine fuse box? IIRC they're in positions 15, 17, & 21 - but check the manual to be sure.

[This is what got my LS out of the driveway...After going through: the charging system, the fuel delivery system, and the intake path & plenum.]
