96 neon tranny problem
i have a 96 neon and after i drive it a while it wont down shift

so I take it that it is stuck in high gear all the time? or do you mean that it does not Kick down? I take it that if you start out after starting it it shifts fine until you try to slow down the first time? If the darn thing goes one, two three. Then shut it off to get it in first... fluid and filter aint guna help

Adjust the throttle pressure control cable.
It is the same idea as a TV cable for GM, or fords old kick down linkage. Pull the pressure lock tab slide the cable all the way toward the engine. Turn the kick down lever clockwise, until it hits the internal stop. Replace the locking tab, and let go of the lever. It should be adjusted. Take the car for a test drive it should be OK unless some thing is broken or worn out |
