1996 Lumina APV Code 0441

I had this code come up, and purchased a purge valve solenoid to replace it, but can't find where it is located. Can anyone help?

My book (for the 3.8) says : EVAP canister purge solenoid: "Top rear side of engine"....without any drawing or photo.....

Part is exactly same for '93 3.8 and '96 3.4.....
Other readings about 3.1/3.4 seem to point to same area, that is, near intake manifold.

HOwever, "Wikianswers" to same queston for transport 98 says "it is under the vehicle fastened to the frame near the fuel tank. It is a rectangular shaped black plastic box with a few hoses and lines connected to it. The lines are connected with quick connectors, and there are some going to the fuel tank and some going up front to the engine."..
...that is same engine as '96, but not same body..I have doubts..I think Silverados are like that.....but please report findings.

the canister purge solenoid is located near the throttle body, between it and the egr valve on the drivers side of the engine compartment, and has a bright red 2-wire connector going to it.

here's a picture of it from AC-delco's website, just to be sure the parts store sold you the correct part.

Got a 96tsport & 'been yappin on the Trans Port list, figured I'd participate here also.

Got the same code awhile ago & haven't sorted it out (or found the purge solenoid) yet. I'll just add for now that other things can bring up that code, including a bad gas cap.

Pretty sure that's where it is on my 96 3.4 just in front of the coil pack.

I haven't found the purge solenoid yet for a 96 3.4 if someone knows where it is on the van?
