P0401 Nightmare!!!!

Hey guy's
I got a friend that has had this code come up(P0401) on his 01 F150 super crew 4.6L and on my last F150 I change out the DPFE sensor and i cleaned the throttle-body change the fuel filter, it fixed my issue. He also has a 99 F150 4.2L reg cab and it fixed that issue as well with a little more preventive maintenance. Now his Super-Crew is not going with the program. We changed out the DPFE sensor,Pump,EVAP pump,EGR and we checked every vacuum tube to the system and went as far as checking the PVC valve tube. and the darn light keeps coming back P0401.
Does anyone have any ideas cause i am sure out of them i even went and replaced the new DPFE ( the Guys at my FORD Dealership have been the best)
Got another post for my Stratus if anybody knows
thanks
JMC

Re: P0401 Nightmare!!!!

Have you cleaned the ports behind the valve? Ford is bad about clogging up the intake behind the valve.

Re: P0401 Nightmare!!!!

with the truck running take some brake clean and spray the vacuum hoses in shorts bursts ,if there is a leak the engine should stutter. i have ran into this a couple of times at my work, although they may look good doesn't mean that they are good the smallest crack could do it.

Re: P0401 Nightmare!!!!

Make sure none of the exhaust portions of the EGR assembly is clogged. I've seen the tube coming from the manifold to the valve clog and the intake side clog. DO NOT drop off a big chunk of carbon into the intake, it can cause problems. If it is clogged, use a shopvac or a vacuum of some sort to pull the stuff out of the hole as you knock it loose. Chunks of carbon into the exhaust is ok, it should burn up pretty quick.
