P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire

I have a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer LS I-6. Just today the check engine light lit up. I checked it out and the code is P0305 cylinder 5 misfire. It has fairly new sparkplugs (replaced in June) and a cylinder 3 and cylinder 5 have new coils. Anyone have any ideas?

Could a bad coil, failed plug, bad or dirty injector, compression poor in that cylinder. Switch coils with a good cylinder see if the misfire moves.

Re: P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire

Sorry, been busy lately. I switched coils and it still game me the P0305. Swapped spark plugs. Again got the code. So I asked a buddy of mine if he could do a a compression test. Turned out that cylinder 5 and 4 were below the 10% of the highest psi and cylinder 5 was below the minimum psi. Thanks. Its the head gasket.

Re: P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire

Maybe this is why my 05 T-blazer has been stalling at red lights.

My 06 TB is sitting at the dealer as I write this with the head pulled off. The dealer is saying that the valve seat in cyl.#5 is allowing blowby and losing compression. The sad thing is that my warranty company is refusing my claim because there is no BROKEN part! I am noticing a pattern here is there anyway to get this on a recall list??

Re: P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire

So, the dealership said that they were scared to take the cylinder head off due to the fact that the engine was an aluminum block and that they might break a bolt. So we just went ahead and put another engine in the T-blazer. Damn
