the noob needs an answer

so i'm driving around this 92 plymouth laser/talon/eclipse/WTFever and i'm looking for a replacement of what i assume to be the intake manifold
(big plastic pipe leading from filter & meter to wherever)
its got a couple of holes in it that are currently duct taped
cant find replacement
thought about one of those open air intake deals......but then what do i do with the air flow sensor (which i have come to understand i need if i want the car to continue running properly)
looking at cold air intake packs i dont see that any of them say "oh, we have your meter, too!"

can anybody help me out here?

Re: the noob needs an answer

Welcome to AF.

We need a little more info before we can help.
Is it the turbo or non-turbo model?

The intake manifold is that part that the pipe connects to and splits the air into the 4 columns and goes into the motor. You're just looking for the intake piping. Or a cold air intake.

Re: the noob needs an answer

thanks for the welcome, non-turbo 1.8 5spd
so that plastic pipe really is just a friggin pipe, huh?
figures... i've been searching pull-a-part junkyards and i asked dealers and napa etc.
at this point i'm hoping a different kind of intake will serve as an effective alternative but... that blasted mass air meter has got me stumped

Re: the noob needs an answer

I've been looking on eBay and haven't been able to find anything. I would say keep checking out the junk yards until you find one. Would be super cheap too. But just have to hunt them down.

Re: the noob needs an answer

You may need to either go to the dealer or use a universal kit, but that takes extra work to make it fit. The problem is you have the wrong engine for aftermarket support and no one (that I know of) besides the OEM makes parts for it.

Re: the noob needs an answer

Check out DSM Graveyard.com they should be able to get what you need. You may need to email them in order to get the exact part. Sounds like what your looking for is the intact for a 1.8L, they should have something for you. Good luck, here's a link that should help you
