Alignment/Wheel Help

So as I was driving to work this morning, I was making a turn and my misjudgement caused me to pretty much run up/bash the side of my passenger tire against the curb. I was going about 30-35 MPH when this happened. First thoughts were "sh*t, I popped my tire" but luckily, it didn't. When I checked it out, everything looked "okay" so I finished driving to work but upon closer inspection, I noticed that my weights fell off. DOH!

Questions: what do I do? I know I'm going to have to take it in because the tire(s) need to be rebalanced since the weight came off. But do ya'll think I need an alignment too? It seems to pull a bit but I can't tell if it's maybe because the weight came off, or if it's cause I'm just paranoid (a bit of both maybe!?!). Also, do ya'll think there was any damage anywhere else (suspension, brake system, axle, frame, etc etc)? Thoughts?

Thanks guys.

Re: Alignment/Wheel Help

weights falling off isnt gonna mess with ur alignment, just take it to any tire shop to get it balanced. it coulda messed anything up depending how u hit the curb. when there balncing the tire have someone u trust check everything out. re aligning it wouldnt hurt...but honestly u should be fine.

Re: Alignment/Wheel Help

Quick question: I have a nail in my tire. I usually just use the self repair kits from Kragen to fix those but the tire shop was saying that those are no good and are dangerous and etc etc.

What's ya'll take on it?

Re: Alignment/Wheel Help

yea...they suck...u wanna get it done right. the inside of the tire needs to be buffed smooth , cleaned with some sorta gas or cleaner, scraped, then the right kinda glue has to be applied and a good patch has to be rolled on with a special roller. thats the only way to do it right. pluggs r last resort and are only meant for tractor tires and lawnmover tires because they cant be patched. i own a tire shop and we only charge 6 bucks to patch a tire. the nails not on the side is it?

Re: Alignment/Wheel Help

There are plugs and there are patches. Patches work just fine on car tires. I have plugged several without issue. If its a small hole then a plug will work fine. If its larger then you need to have it patched.

Dang, you only charge $6 for a patch? Geeze, they charge an arm and a leg here. I called around and most shops are about $20-$25 just for the patching. The shop that my car was at wanted $20.

But anyways, I would say overall I got a good deal out of everything. The alignment was $80 but they gave it to me for $65 (I had a coupon and they did a price match). Balancing for all 4 tires was usually $32 but they gave me a package deal for $20. And the patching they wanted $20 but eventually did it for $15. So yeah, total for everything was $100 which is a pretty darn good deal considering some places charge $90 just for alignment. YIPES!!!

Well, at least it's over with now...thanks for the help guys!
