Porsche 996 GT3-R "Pink Sally"

Hello,

now I started my first W.I.P. here.

In the world wide web I found a decal version for a Porsche 996 GT3-R with the advertising of the Pixar film "Cars". The car named "Pink Sally" mentioned as well as the "female leading role" in the animated cartoon .

To build these version I bought the Transkit GT3-R for the Tamiya Porsche GT3 from Scale Production.

At first I bring the front bumper from the TK to the Tamiya body. In the next step I glued the front and rear fenders on the body. For the look of the real race car I put a lots of grams from Tamiyas White Putty on the fenders and the body. A little piece of Balsa wood was very helpfully to sand the Putty.

The first coat of primer will shown if the proportions are right or if I must sanding again, But before this happens, I must drilled a hole for the Air Jack, and a filler cap be attached on the hood

Where did you find the decals? I've been wanting to do this car as well as the Hole in the Wall Gang GT1. I think someone in Germany was making them, but I lost their info.

the decals are from DMC, Danemark

What color/paint will you be using? I am looking for a good color for my 917 Pink Pig kit.

I found my Decals in german forum, where modelbuilder sales it.

maybe You can use this color

from Humbrol.

So this is the result after the first coat of primer.

On the pictures it looks good but in reality it was not good enough. So I get again some putty and sanding and priming and sanding and priming...

after four times of sanding and priming I am satisfied with the result.

In the next step I will bring the white primer to the body.

Looks really nice and smooth. As you know, paint work is all about the base prep.

Awesome job my friend, but, I suggest the use of a barrier like the Dupont Variprime to avoid the ghost images that could appear from the fenders bodywork as always when you shot the color coats, forget the primer coats, this ones almost never show it.

I don't know, but, Dupont and PPG are almost universal paint that can be obtained in almost any part of the world, by mail or by one of their retailers. Just in case you can get the Dupont there, you can try another automotive sealer that I almost sure you can get overthere. In the last effort you can not get, you could try with a brush coat of future floor polish, there I guess it's Johnson Floor polish or something like that.

Looks great so far, the design in pink is "different" but looks good nevertheless

I think that livery is really cool. Finding the right colour for the wheels will be tricky. You've done a great job on the body mods. We need lots of patience for this hobby! After 2 x lots of sanding and filling I would say to myself do another project for a while or you will go crazy! (been there). Keep it going.
