Mushrooms in trunk

I have a 2001 Zx3 and when it rains the spare tire compartment under the trunks fills with water. It seems as if it is coming from the drivers side because the fabric over the wheel well is always wet. There are mushrooms growing out from between the trunk floor and wheel well. Literally.......There are 3 big mushrooms in my trunk. My wife asked me if i was going to take them out and i said "No, now we wont have to buy mushrooms anymore

Does anyone know where this water may be coming from?

Re: Mushrooms in trunk

Definately replace the weather strip. If you have a sunroof on the car it could be a bad drain as well.

Re: Mushrooms in trunk

Agreed with the others, weatherstrip could do it. I have seen a bad sunroof drain do it. I have also had a broken tail lamp assembly do this, or a rear windshield leaking around the seal. I recommend inspecting each, one at a time. The rear windshield is less likely, unless was recently replaced.
