Papaya orange
Hi all, I'm about to finish a Rennisance 1/43 super integral kit. I need to know if papaya orange has any metallic in it or if it's a solid color. In certain light it appears too, and others it doesn't.
Thanks. |

Re: Papaya orange
I'd say solid if I were to choose, not 100% on that though........

Re: Papaya orange
That would be my opinion as well, solid from 27R when I saw it.

Re: Papaya orange
Papaya on the LM is a solid colour with no metallic, or pearl added. The only thing extra I can add, is that it may have a clear coat over the top. But I,m not 100% sure on that. (Not unless it was heavily waxed) It certainly looked like it did when I viewed it at Exel a few years back.
Elitedetailer will probably know if he is still around. |

Re: Papaya orange
Thank you very much guys. I'll have to start posting some build progress. It's not gonna be a fixed panel model (opened or closed) but working panels...working doors and removable panels that actually fit back on the model.
I tried to sell it on ebay last week but no takers...nobody seems to want to pay for time invested...so I'll just finish myself. It's supposed to be the 95 lemans winner livery but I prefer the orange car, cause it looks soooo good! If anyone knows of any obvious body mods or differences between the to cars please let me know. I can't catch them all...and I want it to be as right as possible. Thanks |

Re: Papaya orange
Similar discussions on the Papaya paint have come through the forum before.
For a real car try this. For models use that. From an exterior perspective, the '95 GTR model you have should be identical to the LM if that is your intention. The interior would be the most different, as the LM is finished differently, lacks the roll cage and retains the three seat layout of the road cars. However, there are a pair of '95 GTRs that have been resprayed in Papaya Orange, so you could choose to have your model emulate either of them much easier. GTR #08R is one of them and is located in Bahrain. If you'd like some reference imagery, there are some nice photos in this post here. >8^) ER |

Re: Papaya orange
Not trying to second guess the guru here but as far as I am aware the LM is nearer to the 96 GTR with the extended splitter, wide arches bigger intakes etc.

Re: Papaya orange
I believe all the cars that competed at LeMans in 1995 had already been updated with the items you mention. You can certainly see them in this photo of the winner crossing the finish line:
![]() Any accurate model of the LeMans winner should feature them as well. Unfortunately that's not the case with some of the UT diecasts - specifically the one of the LeMans winner and the Harrods GTR. Never hurts to second guess something - that's how we all learn things. ![]() >8^) ER |

Re: Papaya orange
Yes - looked through my reference photos of them and there were two versions of each from UT, neither one completely "correct". The same is true of their LM unfortunately.
The ones with the larger nose vents lack the wheel arch extensions. The ones that have those have the wrong nose vents. Granted, there were ongoing changes to the cars early on, so it might not entirely be their fault. >8^) ER |

![]() Still I have to say, I'm very pleased about those UT GTR's, which I have. Even those lack of detail. And now when I thinked this over night, it is quite clear why any of UT Models or any else GTR diecast is inpossible to be exactly perfect. These racing cars probably changed so often during the racing weekends that diecast manufacture company's had inbossible to keep follow exactly correct versions on their product lines. Maybe the thing is like this way....maybe?
