Those w/ a Traqmate... where'd you mount it? How'd you power it?
The Traqmate I got off of eBay came in... I'm thinking I'll mount it on the front roof bar or on the steering column. Could also do it on the left A-pillar bar. Ideas?
Where's the easiest place to tap in for power? The main power switch where we tapped in for our tach power is about full... I guess I could get a bigger screw and continue to use that. Thanks, Brian |

Re: Those w/ a Traqmate... where'd you mount it? How'd you power it?
are you talking about the base unit or the display? The base unit needs to be flat and level and I made a little tray and mounted it on the flat surface on the drivers side near the front downtube.

I'll see if i can get pics...
I mounted the antenna on the center of the dash where it is horizontal. Devin has the DU mounted on his switch panel with Velcro, seems to work well.

Re: Those w/ a Traqmate... where'd you mount it? How'd you power it?
I have pictures of mine as well. I mounted the base unite between the two seats. I mounted the video unit on the sloped piece behind the seats in the middle as well. I took out the PI system so the display unit is mounted on the bracket for the PI system. The antenna I mounted through the roof, since I got the permanent mount. I will try to post some of the pictures up tonight. Others will come next week. Since I am a noob. I mean I will send the pictures to Eric so he can load them in the website for me.

Haha... Tom get a photobucket account. I don't have the video setup adn I still use my PI system for oil temp, pressure, h2o temp, fuel pressure etc. I have an analgo tach setup and no speedo needed.

passenger side by the ECU and the display is on my switch panel.
Powered via a lighter adapter (this way is portable) that I wired in.

Re: Those w/ a Traqmate... where'd you mount it? How'd you power it?
Base unit has been velcro'd on the trans tunnel under dash for 2yrs w/o issues. I used to velcro the display unit to the dash. Worked fine, but long reach and hard to see well. A friend of mine (machinest) with a Panoz made some really nice holders (sort of fat "T" shaped piece of aluminum that matches the foot print of the DU) that clamp to the stearing column and then velcro the DU on.
Velcro works well 'cause you need to be able to remove the units for updates and downloads. BTW if you get a Chase Cam mount the DVR by the MSD unit on the dash and the camera on the front roll bar by the rearview mirror. Kevin |

Re: Those w/ a Traqmate... where'd you mount it? How'd you power it?
Brian here are a couple of options.
![]() This is a temp setup-wires aren't attached as I had to remove them to do some work on the car-Just noticed the GPS unit is pointing at the back of the car instead of forward-Both units are velcroed on. ![]() I chose to mount the camera in the rear so I can see my steering, shifting and sometimes footwork. I think that's the greatest value of the camera. Just looking outside makes for somewhat boring footage. At least at my current speeds. _Excuse the messy wiring-not fully completed yet ![]() GTS mounting position ![]() Velcro removable ![]() Mounting in the RA-I actually prefer it higher up as I can quickly glance down and read my lap times. Also provides room for a timer under the Traqmate. On the RA wiring was into the ignition switch-Power on with car On the GTS wiring is into a separate Aux. toggle switch which I also use for Cool Shirt, Radio

Re: Those w/ a Traqmate... where'd you mount it? How'd you power it?
Uwe,
I have my camera mounted in that same location in the GTS. However, the standard Chase cam lens is too wide so you will see mostly the head rests and the exposure out the window is too bright to see the track well. Chase cam has a narrow lens that you can order from them that helps. Note that the focus takes alot of time to adjust as a fraction of a turn/thread will make it blurred. You have to play with it and then fix it with a drop of crazy glue. If you want to see your shifts then that is an option. I had the Chase cam DVR mounted about there and it got cooked so we moved it up above the passenger foot area by the MSD much cooler. You may want to talk to Dan Gorman (Gorman motor sports 925 336-9767) as he is local and very slick with the TM stuff. I had him set mine up to autorecord with movement and to loop so I never have to delete the files if no "events" are recorded. He is also great with the data analysis and we've been trying to put together a local tutorial session. I've had him up to the track a few times to work on our data and amazing what he can pull out of the data. Kevin |

Re: Those w/ a Traqmate... where'd you mount it? How'd you power it?
I mounted my main box as show in the UWE pics. My chase cam box is mounted above it on the sloped sheet metal. Chase cam is mounted on the roll bar behind the seats as show as well.
I used the PI mount also, but I purchased the clippy mount from TRAQMATE. We will see if it works in this state at RA end of AUG. If not I have plenty of cable to move the Camera. I need good footage of all my on and off road racing.

Re: Those w/ a Traqmate... where'd you mount it? How'd you power it?
Quote:
I'll have to check the temp on the tunnel where I mounted-def. don't want to cook it. I haven't had the camera issues you stated. I wonder if mine is newer than yours. I have really good in cockpit visibility. No blurring and no focusing issues at all, exposure both inside and outside are very good. The view only shows the front part of my helmet. No view interference at all. We'll have to compare cameras. Mine is only a few months old.
