Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

LOL yeah I only text and drive when nobody is around and i'm on a big road. Because I realize it's dangerous, and it's really hard to text on a touch phone anyway, so it's only when i know i'm of no danger to others.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

I like the new car vipey! Looking at those pics just gives me the feeling like I'm smelling that new car smell. You need to get tints on it though, it'll look really good with tints! Good Luck with it! Man if I had the money i would buy myself a new car. Something with more balls would be great! Driving a 106hp car just doesn't do it for me especially coming from something that had 245hp! This has been a long interesting week! Wednesday was my b-day. I got myself a new cell phone this week... an EnV touch! Fun phone but the battery sucks! I spoke with my brother and he told me he had an accident with his mustang. He hit a deer on his way to work. I'm guessing it's not that bad since the car is still driveable... but the hood, grill and front bumper are messed up from what he had told me. He has an 04 40th edition too. I guess it's better then the 02 that he had that was totalled by a saturn and the saturn walking away with no damage. What concerns me is when he has an accident someone else in my family always has an accident about a month or two later. The last time for him with his 02, one month later I got creamed in my grand am.

Thumbs up Re: Grand Am - Keeping It Outta The Ditch Thread

You know what the "new" car smell is grfnkl ?
Glue !
And happy belated birfday grfnkl ! Nice phone btw.
I've heard battery life is a big issue with the newest touch screens.
I am putting off an iphone or blackberry upgrade because of this.

And everyone watch out for those deers' !
Ive seen several out this month and the fields arent even ready to pick.
I'm kinda afraid to even drive the SE at night.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Around me it is deer central. Have seen a few doe around you can see the white spots but they are very light. So far I have been lucky, I have seen them before walking across the road.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Yeah It's hot over here too! My car a/c can barely keep the car cool that's how hot it's been over here. To add to it I can't find a tree to park my car under to keep it a little cooler.

I always thought the new car smell was the plastics in the car and in some cases the leather. Reason for my thought is I went into a leather coat store once and it smelled like a new car inside. I loved it! My wifes acura still has the faint scent of new car too it! My car however has the faint scent of mustyness.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

you guys have no idea of "heat" lol.....

its been 102-107F constant here for weeks lol

despite I need a coolant flush, my car has been doing well with the heat, been staying around 210-220F... my 180stat is doing most of the work I would assume lol... Just been driving it easy, running the AC when I can (still messed up, makes lots of noise and kills my gas mileage when its on)

The other day my car had a hiccup, started to misfire right when I pulled into my lane in traffic... lost all power, and it couldnt fire right then it kicked in and dumped w/e fuel out lol...

I noticed now sometimes I have a small plume of black smoke come out when I start my car... smells like gas too on cold starts. barely notice it.

maybe I should save up for some bigger injectors, as mine are prob still messed up from when I had all that crap in my fuel lines.

Oh yea vipey, how're those lowering springs and kyb struts doing? I thought about jumping the boat and grabbing me both ... I finally un-bent my rear strut tower bar and put it back in the trunk.. missed it. I turn on a dime it almost seems... but I bounce like crazy with my original springs/struts lol... Tons of body roll also in the corners lol

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

The heat and humidity finally triggered some wicked storms here today. From 12:30pm till about 5pm it poured in the town that i work in. Right now it's unconfirmed but they are estimating that it got about 10 inches of rain. The lightning was constantly striking, to the point that half the town lost power and phones...including the building i work in. I have no clue how many times the car alarm went off. They actually let us leave early because the storm was that bad, plus NO phone = no work.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Even with the bad storms that we have had here in the past, have never lost phone service. But with the exception with cell service, it was very spotty in the south suburbs of Chicago. A lot of cell sites were hit by lighting.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

This storm that we had yesterday was crazy bad. I found out today, that the power went out, phones, internet, cell phone service in the area was spotty at best. I couldn't get a text out or get on the internet if my life depended on it. The lightning was just too powerful and too much that it fried just about everything. the phones didn't come back up at my job until about 9:30 this morning... they went out around 2:00pm yesterday. The official amount of rain was just shy of 10 inches and 8 inches in the area that I work! That's 8-10 inches that fell in a matter of 3-4 hours. thannkfully where I live only got about 3 inches so flooding wasn't nearly as bad as where i work.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

And people will drive through the fast moving water on the streets and get in very big trouble. Then they are fighting for their very lives. I know because in my much younger stupid days I did it. It had rained and flooded the access to O'Hare airport. People had to walk through the water to take a taxi home. I was on my way to work and at the time I had a dodge champ. I went through this very fast moving water and the car started to move off the road. I had to start to bounce in the drivers seat for the wheels to grab the pavement. I thought I bought it. But I did get the wheels to grab and got out of the water. Made it to work and I was one of the very few to make in. It was raining so hard that it was coming through the building doors. Had almost 3 inches of rain inside of the office. We were told to go home, we were also told we would get a full days pay. Needless to say I took a different way home.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Yeah the heat and humidity has been on this week !
I talked to a friend in Vegas, it was 7pm and still 115 deg.... said AC is worthless since they're under sealevel and practicly no humidity.

Hey Gir, I have KYBs and Eibachs on the SE now!!
I never thought the GA would handle as good as it does now. Im realy amazed at the big differenence it's made in traction period!
I never replaced my front strut bar back when I bent it, I need to take some time off to work on my own projects.

Have a great weekend everyone !!

Ouch that is a scorcher, but with little or no humidity I would love that.
