Cruise control not working properly post tranny rebuild
I recently had my 2001 T&C transmission rebuilt. Afterwords I was on a long drive and went to engage the cruise control. I hit the button and the vehicle initially slows down about 5 mph then slowly picks up speed. Sometimes it just keeps going up. Sometimes it slowly speeds back up and stays set somewhere close to what I want but it varies greatly when going up and down hills. It use to stay dead on no matter what I was doing. Any ideas? Does something need recalibrated for the cruise control to work properly? Why the large swing in speed? I checked the speedometer with my GPS, and it appears to be within a 1 MPH when going 65-70.

I believe it is covered under the lifetime warranty done by the dealer.Go to the dealer and check this out.You do not pay for this if it is covered under the lifetime warranty.

Could be the clockspring too which is part of the cruise control which is covered by the lifetime warranty.

Re: Cruise control not working properly post tranny rebuild
I finally got a chance to really look at this problem. It was a vacuum line. When working on the transmission I'm sure it is necessary to remove the battery and the battery tray. On the back of the molded battery tray is one of the vacuum line connections for the cruise control. The line is about 4 inches long, and it had been left disconnected. Cruise control is back to normal. For others benefit...after reading a lot about cruise controls you will find the whole issue of the clock spring in the steering wheel on T&C having a problem. It was a recall issue. Also, you find there isn't a whole lot that normally goes wrong with a cruise control that isn't vacuum related. There are just a few vaccum lines that are just to the left behind the battery.
