1999 Windstar - Anything Worth Scavenging?
I'll soon be turning in my 1999 Windstar to the dealer as part of the Cash for Clunkers program. Of course this means the car will be scrapped by the dealer. This impending doom for my Windstar causes me to wonder if there's anything I should scavenge from it while i have the chance - I just need to be able to drive it to the dealer when it's time to pick up my new vehicle.
The only things that come to mind so far are the stereo and CD changer and perhaps the tire jack, wrench, etc... The tires are brand new, but I don't have anything to replace them with for the drive to the dealer. I don't have room to store the seats and doubt if i would ever need or use much from this vehicle. I don't think I have enough time to try to sell anything that might be of value to anyone else. Any thoughts? |

Re: 1999 Windstar - Anything Worth Scavenging?
Depends on how much work you want to do: Wipers, arms, cowling, bumper-schields, lamp fixtures, ...
Is the dealer close by so you can drive slowly to avoid overheating? ... can you steer without power steering? : Rad fan assembly, ac compressor, alternator, ps pump, ac condensor, .... Unless you have market for it, its a lot of trouble. What are you buying? |

Re: 1999 Windstar - Anything Worth Scavenging?
IMRC valves are very pricey. You could probably sell them for $40.00 each easy. You can drive the car without them on it.
I am so very tempted to sell my wife's 140k 1996 3.8L under the Cluncker program, but the body has no major dents and it still runs good. I spent $700 last year to get some minor dents and some minor paint job. Blue book shows it is worth $3k in good condition. |
