another 73 el camino question! This time dealing with bed.
Yes I know, I'm becoming a pain in the tootie-john I suppose. The 73 I purchased recently came with replacement floor panels that I've already custom fit for my bed area. But what is underneath is really ugly. Aside from the cross members that can be cut out and re-welded, the rest of the "inner'ds" is really rusted. I've gone to the places that some of you have mentioned for parts but no one deals with the hidden stuff of the bed. Is it something that I'll have to fabricate or is there a place that deals with those items?

Re: another 73 el camino question! This time dealing with bed.
Well, I'm afraid there's not going to be any easy or inexpensive way around this. I have similar rot on my '76 Sprint, but have acquired an entire replacement body shell from SoCal. These 'insides' are not reproduced and will either have to be cut from a donor car or custom fabbed. No small amount or work for the average joe. As much as I hate to say it, you may want to look at getting another car and using yours for parts. Good luck.
