Whats the difference in engines?

Ive got a 99 Taurus SE comfort sport with the 3.0 duratec 24v DOHC engine. I dont know much about these cars, i just wanna know whats the difference between the standard and the 24v DOHC engines? which ones are more powerful, reliable etc?

Re: Whats the difference in engines?

Try searching the forum. Reliabiltiy of the two has been discussed before. As for which is more powerful, the Duratech 24V DOHC engine is the more powerful of the two you mention. More powerful than that was the 32V V8 used in the 1999 Taurus SHO.

From a reliability standpoint, that will depend greatly on which engine was maintained better from day one.
