Seat Belt

How do you test if a seat belt is working or not? I have hit the brakes and the belt does not seem to lock up and hold you in place.

Re: Seat Belt

Seatbelts only lock-up when decelleration reaches a certain point. You'd have to stand on the brakes hard to get them to do so.

Re: Seat Belt

There is a weight in the seat belt assy, and the weight has to tilt in order for the seat belt to lock. As rich indicated it take a lot to get the belt to lock up.

Re: Seat Belt

Just grasp the belt and sharply jerk it out. It should catch.
