97 K1500 doesnt start

97 K1500 does not start unless it is plugged in. It has Spark, It has Fuel Pressure (over 60 psi) Swap out Crank sensor, put a new Ignition Modual in it, tried pouring fuel into the throttle body intake. Still wont start unless the truck is pluged in for a few hours. Once Started it runs Great.

UHHH how many places can you plug it into, it is plugged into an electrical wall socket producing 110 volts, that plugs into an extension cord that is attacted to that little plug in that hangs outside your grill, and runs into the Block heater.

If you cant figure out what its pluged into I highly doubt you can figure out a problem like this.

It sounds like you have a drain on the battery and you have to leave it on the battery charger over night.
Is this correct or do you have another type of problem.

no, its not a Battery issue. Battery tests good

You have a lot of nerve in this statement, you have no idea of someone's backround. You could have meant plugged into a battery charger, why would anyone assume in warm weather you were using a block heater?":??

Are you using 160WT rear end lube for motor oil. Why do you need a block heater in the summer.

Why plug it into a block heater in the middle of summer I do not know. I am not the one that did it. But it works. Which is what makes it very strange.

This is not my truck I am the 4th auto shop that has had this vehical in the past year to try to figure the problem it has been to 2 other independant shops and the GM dealer.

So I am looking for new Ideas. Here maybe one of you could think of something everyone else hasnt already thought of.


And Seriously I would have it on a battery charger not that I PLUG it in. I mean when my customer came in and said he plugs his truck in the middle of summer to make it start I didnt say What are you plugging it into, I just said that is very strange and even though it is weird and strange he was right and it does work.

So obviously pluging it into a block heater is warming somthing up that makes it easier for the truck to start. now what that could possibly be I dont know.

But I have seen a similar thing on a Ford Diesel that had a fuel leak on the top of the engine. It would not start in the middle of summer unless it was plugged into a block heater. Somtimes things that should not work do work.

I think the temperature is changing the timing which will make it hard to turn over. Look at temperature sensitive devices like the ECT and IAT sensor. These can alter timing.
